CRUISING DAVE’S PIECE II
By Casper
Well, folks, the Great Pumpkin Cruise has come and gone, and with it another example of how NFCC likes to do things. The weather was perfect. Amity was hospitable, and as usual a great place to kick back and relax. The grill was smoking with some of Bubba’s best burgers, and Oscar’s finest tube-steaks. The covered dishes offered rounded out an excellent repast. Well done to all that participated. To those that didn’t, "youse had yer chance and yaz bloo it..."
Special thanks to Fred and Alison, Ken and Leslie, Mark Bailey, Len and Pat, Barbara, Paul (the crab was FANTASTIC). All of these folks came to the rescue of the Cruise Captain who was unavoidably unable to attend due to some personal matters that have regrettably required his attention elsewhere. Even with this absence, the essence of NFCC came to the rescue thanks to those mentioned and more.
As it stands, folks, you have just ONE more shot at enjoying an NFCC cruise in calendar ‘96. That will be the Friendship Cruise, the JAZZ FESTIVAL cruise being a less formal affair for our more adventurous members. The Friendship Cruise is held on Thanksgiving Weekend, and it’s an opportunity to cement the fellowship that has brought us all together during the past years long, and great, cruising year. Besides, winter (as we know it) is rapidly approaching, bringing brisk breezes to go with the more chilly weather, and there’s something to be said for cruising with friends, knowing that there’s a hot cup of coffee waiting below. Almost like being in a coffee commercial.....
You may have noticed that there is scant information in this column concerning the Friendship Cruise. There will be more than enough information at the November meeting to satisfy the most curious. I could say that I’m doing this because the November meeting is a very important meeting, with elections and all. Yeah, that’s a good reason. More than likely, the same situations that befall the Cruise Captain have prevented a firming up of the plans. Either way, there’s a GREAT incentive to attend the November meeting. See you there.
