Let’s see, as I write this, the Adopt-a-Racer Cruise hasn’t happened, yet as you read it, the Adopt-a-Racer Cruise HAS happened, so I don’t have to bother you with the details on the event. You were there and you know how good it was. Great, then we’ll be seeing more of each other out on the water. What?? You WEREN’T there??? Gosh, don’t know what to say. Except maybe MAN, YOU REALLY MISSED IT, and you’ll have to wait until next year for another chance.
Having looked at the calendar, I can see the Rear Commodore’s Cruise. I can officially say that it will be in August (consult the events calendar.....), and that it will be at Amity Anchorage. I can also say that the BBQ to be served will be rivaled by none in it’s preparation. If I can locate enough Ice Cream Freezers, there will also be fresh ice cream for dessert and fruit, if available. I’m also going to try to talk Barbara Williams into preparing one of her WORLD FAMOUS salads for the club. You haven’t lived until you’ve taken on one of Barbara’s salads (and her incredible dressing).
I could go on for hours concerning the ups and downs of buying and delivering boats, but somehow, I have a feeling that there’s enough discussion concerning who is buying what boat so by now anything I have to say would be old news. I will say that I think the OPC class is going to become VERY interesting for the next year or so. Seems like some of the hard-core OPC’ers are after some SERIOUS fun. This ought to be an interesting season. Stay tuned....
There is something I’d like to say. I’m pleased to announce that the Hardie Family is now complete once again. LAUREL ANN has (by the time you read this, hopefully, barring any more damn low pressure systems) returned home. She seems to have grown a bit, but promises to deliver as much fun as ever, if not more.
PARTING SHOT: Fun is why we all do this, but safety takes a priority: When was the last time you LOOKED at the stuff at your masthead? I don’t mean with a pair of binoculars. If you haven’t seen that stuff in a while, gee, I didn’t mean to worry you...........
